When I recently got a request to make a fishing cake, I’m not going to lie, I was a little intimidated. Not to mention, I had never sculpted with rice krispies or used food coloring as paint and I would have to do this in order to make this cake realistic.
It took a few days, but overall this was a really, really “fin” cake to make (sorry, just couldn’t resist that one). The request was for chocolate cake and vanilla buttercream, yum! Around the cake it said, “Thank you for teaching us to fish. Happy birthday”. I was so honored to be able to make this cake, it definitely reminded me of the blessings in my life and the joy I have found in baking.
I am Mykal's sister, Betsy. Your cake made me speechless. It was such a great reminder to remember the memories and lessons my stepdad taught us. Fishing was definitely one of the many things we hold close to our hearts. Thank you so much for taking the time to help us through that day.
