Oh my goodness you guys, I’m exhausted. Anyone else feeling this way today? We just got back late Sunday night from a weekend in South Carolina where we had two weddings, one in Greenville and then one in Charleston where I was a bridesmaid. They were gorgeous weddings and I’ll have more to come on this later, but for now I’m excited to be back with another round of my experience at The Southern C Summit in Charleston, SC.
PS: Make sure you don’t miss my 5 key takeaways from day one here!
Our second day in the holy city was much more laid back than the first day where we were going from sun up to (way past) sun down. It was a nice change of pace, although our brains still felt full as a tick because of all the great sessions and networking :).
To fuel up for the day, we hit up Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit which is right down the road from the venue, The American Theater. It’s my favorite place for grab-and-go breakfast and a must-hit if you’re in Charleston.
As I noshed on my country ham, blueberry and shortbread and cinnamon sugar biscuits, I really enjoyed watching Mandy from Waiting on Martha talk social media. Seeing as social media is my day job, I didn’t find a ton of things completely new, but really appreciated Mandy’s presentation style (it felt like coffee with a good friend) and view of bring all things social to life. Here are a couple of my favorite slides:
After this presentation, we all hopped over to the gorgeous tent (had to include more photos below!) for book signings. I snagged Kim Whitman’s book Monograms for the Home (perfect for my coffee table) and was so excited to meet and have Eddie Ross sign his book Modern Mix for my MIL for Mother’s Day. I have to say, I’m having regret over not purchasing Julianne Taylor’s (of Taylor Burke Home) book Design Her.
When we got back, the Summit broke out into two tracks and you had a choice on which sessions to attend. I was surprised that there weren’t more bloggers in attendance, but the choices left room for any audience, whether you were a small business owner, creative or blogger. I chose the sessions Growing and Monetizing your Online Presence by Womanista, Brand Collaborations with Buru, Hatch, Cotton + Quill and Emily McCarthy and Target Practice – Sharpen your Skill with Hoffman Media.
The sessions were back-to-back, but we stayed alert with delicious cookies on our table from Grey Ghost Bakery. I went for the Chocolate Cayenne and y’all, it was so hot, I could barely eat the whole thing!
Before I knew it, it was time for another afternoon of networking during Cocktails and Conversation. Some highlights for me on this day were the macaroons from Tree House Macaroons, the charm bar from Moon & Lola and meeting nice folks from catstudios (which make my favorite tea towels!) and other bloggers like Paige of The Pink Clutch.
Side note on the macaroons – untrue to my usual basicness, I do not like macaroons(!), but these were unlike anything I’ve ever had, SO GOOD! The banana pudding was my favorite and they ship so I’m thinking these are on dock for birthday gifts for my friends all over the country.
After a fun day at the Summit, we unwound with drinks and dinner at The Westendorff with my friend Mary and her (now!) husband and friend. We were staying at Mary’s house which is on the same street as this restaurant, so it worked out perfectly. Not to mention, the food and atmosphere was just fantastic. I highly recommend this on your next trip to Charleston!
Phew, what an awesome time!!! Next up, our final day at the Summit which includes a beautiful brunch out on the water at Le Creuset‘s headquarters. Let me know if you have any questions on the sessions or Charleston!
