The massive amount of cards, flower commercials and emails filling my world right now touting that Mother’s Day is coming soon are never ending. So I started doing what any good blogger does, and began my Mother’s Day gift guide. While adding baubles and pink printed goodies to my list, I all the sudden stopped and just hit “delete”. This isn’t what I truly want for Mothers Day you guys.
You see, lately I’ve been feeling the swirl. Y’all know what I mean. It’s that feeling when you say, “I’m so excited for X” yet follow it up with a “but I just can’t wait to be home with my family” in the back of your head. And that time at home with family is fleeting or oh so far off in the distance.
We’ve been traveling, entertaining visitors, working our rears off and celebrating all the (many wonderful) things these past few months. Now let’s be clear, I wouldn’t change any of that for the world. I think it’s ok and natural to have the time of your life, but feel like you just need a breather.
What I really want for Mother’s Day is time alone with my little family. I need a day of nothing with my baby, her Dada and our sweet fur babies. No cleaning, no laundry, no packing, no unpacking, no planning, no list making, no food prep, no work, no blogging and barely any social. I want this for all of us, Ry included. I want him to relax and enjoy our family time too. Ok and maybe I’d like a long, hot shower if you twist my arm :).
Now, don’t get me wrong, there will be many a gift guide in my blogging future. Ya girl loves some shoppin’! But right this second, I just want a minute with my family.
Mamas, if you’re feeling the swirl too, I hope you get some much needed family time this Mother’s Day. Regardless of what you do though, CHEERS to you, you beautiful lady, you’re doing a great job and you are just plain fabulous.
